Licenced riders compete in scratch races and criterium style racing throughout the year.
Grading is performance based with riders being regraded based on particular criteria.
• Strong performances and place results.
• Results in a state or major event outside club racing.
• Inconsistent performances. eg. often being left behind in your graded race..
• Unable to compete at a competitive level and contribute in race finishes.
Due to the nature of courses and type of racing at various venues handicapping on results from other club races is not generally considered, unless a significant quality field is evident in a combined open or invitation.
Different clubs use their own system and HD use a preferred process as well.
Each rider must be competitive in their current grade and maintain that level of racing fitness to remain in their grade.
Should a rider show evidence of a reduction in grade race fitness, or for other reasons unable to sustain their grades level of performance they will be regraded down one level. eg; sickness, dropped several times.
For a rider to be promoted to a higher grade they must accumulate 7 points in a reasonable time span over 6 months. (Allowances for away events)
Points are accumulated at:
3 points per First place,
2 points per Second placing and
1 point per Third place.
Fourth place is also noted
It is reasonable to assume that on occasions circumstances may impact on a rider’s race result, eg. crash or race interference. Appropriate exceptions may be made in this situation.
However, grading adjustments are the responsibility for, and at the discretion of the grading committee only.
As best as possible a record of rider performance is kept to assist with any adjustments necessary.
